The extremely talented and generous [livejournal.com profile] womblyfriend volunteered her comic-making skills as part of an auction to raise money for a bunch of LT fans who are doing the the Race for the cure. I was the lucky winner of her talents, and she made incredible, wonderful illustrated pages like this one, to go along with DNR, the Stabler/Beecher crossover fic I posted here.

Click on the pic and then again to see it in (very big) full size.
DNR page 1 DNR page 1

DNR page 2 DNR page 2

DNR page 3 DNR page 3

DNR page 4 DNR page 4

Big, big thanks to Wombly for the care and imagination and attention she put into the pages. I love the way she used the perfect images from Oz and SVU to convey the moment. There are some wonderful details in there - I've told her my favorites (and no, they aren't ALL on Page 2), but I'd love to see what you guys pick out. Mostly, I am just thrilled to see such a wonderful illustration with my words as part of it.

Also, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] fanfromfla and [livejournal.com profile] cheights for the screencaps Wombly utilized to create the pages. Edited to add special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] maverick4oz for running the auction and to [livejournal.com profile] fanfromfla for being the money woman. And to everyone doing the actual Walk.

I guess I have to finish the story now, huh?

oh that is so cool. That is really, *really* cool. Gorgeous. (and i recognise LT in the Criminal Intent episode!). But I like the falling martini glass. It's just things like that which *make* a comic.

Isn't it great? I just smile like a madwoman when I look at the pages.

I recognized the Criminal Intent scene, too. Great choice by Wombly. And I loved the martini glass. You're right - it is those little things that make it feel like a real comic.

No, no, no - I didn't draw them. [livejournal.com profile] womblyfriend did. Unless you were addressing her, in which case, you're right! She really is :)

Wow! Great work! From a writer's standpoint, it must be all sorts of awesome to see your words fleshed out like this. So cool!

Yes, it's incredible. It still makes me smile madly to look at them. I love this auction idea. Pay a little money, and get talented people to write and draw for you.

I want to buy your services in an auction ;)

This is easily the naughtiest thing you've ever said to me. :) Well, if there were ever some sort of SVU fic auction...

And p.s.: Yes, you DO have to finish that story now!

Hee - I was saving up, baby. Though I should have said "procure." "Procure" just implies naughtiness.

Sadly, I can't imagine the members of the SVU fandom ever agreeing on a cause. Except maybe to get MH a haircut!

Oh, and I feel I must confess, even if it means you won't do my bidding someday, that I've been taking your name in vain. There's been a lot of talk on TWoP and LJ about Molita fics, and I have made a few references to yours. But I don't think I ever replies to it directly, so I feel sort of deceptive. I never replied directly because, despite your usual beautiful writing, I have an intense dislike of the subject matter. But I didn't like the feeling of talking behind your back, so there you have it.

Hope you'll still let me pay you to do my bidding someday :)

No worries at all, and I really appreciate your honesty. (As long as you're not saying, "omgliek tehholieinnocenst sucks!") I had noticed that you did not comment on any of the Molita fics I wrote, so I assumed that you didn't like the pairing--and I completely respect that. Everyone has a "Don't Go There" pairing, no matter how well the story might be executed. (For me, it's practically anything that seriously pairs Casey with anyone...oh, and just E/O stories in general. There, I said it.) I understand your reservations (to put it mildly) about this particular pairing; I have to admit that there are times I can't believe I wrote the damn thing (other than jokingly, which is how it all got started).

Hope you'll still let me pay you to do my bidding someday :)

I'd be happy to do so, ultra, although if you have me do hetero erotica or boy slash, I doubt I could do it as well as you--or any of the really talented Oz/SVU fic writers for that matter. (Although if you asked me to do an E/O story I'd have to hunt you down and kill you.)

Absolutely awesome! Congrats to [livejournal.com profile] womblyfriend for the great job. And I think I told you already how much I loved your crossover fic, but I 'll just tell you again: I really loved that first part and I'm looking forward to read more of this story.

Aww, thanks, Ana Paula. She really did a great job; I was flattered when she suggested the fic as the way to go. I hope I can post some more soon.

You and Wombly are so talented, I'm so impressed.
Now you have to finish the story, there's no escape.

I can't choose, I love all of it.
The homage to Leroy Street: masterly. I hope Dori sees this soon.

Hey AnonymousLuci :) I second your thoughts on Wombly's talents. And I'm so happy I reaped the benefits.

And I'm so happy you caught the Leroy St. sign. I'll have to make sure Dori sees it; I hope she gets a kick out of it.

Sweet.Holy.God. That is so fucking awesome! The fourteen-year-old in me--the one who spent all her time reading and drawing comic books--thinks this might be the coolest thing in fandom she's ever seen. Screw it, the twenty-something version of me thinks that. The panels perfectly capture your story. And the shot of Toby gazing out at the NYC skyline reminds me of Edward Hopper's work. So, so cool.

Isn't it fucking cool? I hope [livejournal.com profile] womblyfriend sees all these kudos; she so deserves them. I love that NYC shot, too. She perfectly captured wistful Toby there, and on the last page. I also love the little news report picture. And of course, the Page Two spread :)

... on a semi-related note: i believe you won my auction and have comissioned a story from me. Just wanted to let you know that I have my pen (or keyboard) at the ready. Gimme the prompt and the length, and I'm off.

Hey! I'm so glad you responded. I wasn't sure if I should e-mail you or wait to hear. Do you want me to e-mail you the prompt or post it here? If e-mail, should I use the one in your user info?

Glad you enjoyed the comics - they really are incredible.

Will do. And I'm honored to get a story from you. Really, the artists and writers (and walkers) are doing the hard part. I just gave some money. But I'm so happy I did! Yay.

Wow, just...wow. I'm gonna hafta second noir_moll on this one, probably the coolest thing I've seen in fandom in a loonngggg time. It's like a four-page squee smorgasborg - comics, good writing and hot naked guys getting it on!! The writing and the artwork compliment each other beautifully. And now, you just gotta finish your story. There's no going back now.
